The District of Elkford is committed to water conservation. As a participant in the Columbia Basin Water Smart Initiative
(Water Smart), developed by CBT, helps local governments assess their water conservation needs and develops plans to reduce community water consumption. The District of Elkford is committed to reducing its water use by 20 per cent by 2015. From 2009 to 2012 the District of Elkford has achieved a 9% decrease in gross community water demand, equivalent to 121 ML or 1,200,000 litres of water saved annually.
The District of Elkford has hired Jaden Canlas as our Water Smart Ambassador for the summer. From May to August, Water Smart Ambassadors will be carrying out residential irrigation audits and promoting water conservation awareness and education. He will also be asking residents to complete a short questionnaire and your cooperation would be greatly appreciated.
Starting in May, contact Jaden to sign up for a free Lawn and Garden Water Assessment. He will assess your lawn and garden needs by doing a soil and landscape analysis. You will receive a free garden hose timer or rain sensor when you get an assessment. To book your appointment, call 250.910.4028 or email him at firstname.lastname@example.org
